Qatar has introduced the new “Hodori” palm-recognition system across government schools and school buses for the 2026–2027 academic year, providing a quick and contactless way to record students’ attendance and departure.

The system is designed to simplify attendance recording, enhance student safety, and help schools and parents track students’ journeys to and from school more accurately.

How Does “Hodori” Work?

Registration with “Hodori” is quick and contactless. Students simply bring their palm close to the “Hodori” device for recognition, allowing their attendance or departure to be recorded securely.

Students Using Private Transportation

For students who use private transportation, attendance is recorded twice daily:
Upon arrival: When entering school in the morning.
Upon departure: At the end of the school day, before leaving school.

Students Using School Buses

Students travelling by school bus are registered at four stages of their daily journey:
When boarding the bus in the morning.
When getting off the bus upon reaching the destination.
When boarding the bus at the end of the school day for the return journey.
When getting off the bus.

The “Hodori” system is intended to make student attendance and departure easier to record while providing enhanced visibility of students’ journeys between home and school.
