Residents of Qatar will have an opportunity to witness a beautiful celestial event on the evening of Tuesday, June 9, as the planets Venus and Jupiter appear close together in the western sky during a planetary conjunction.
During the event, Venus will be positioned approximately 1.6 degrees north of Jupiter, allowing both planets to be seen together with the naked eye shortly after sunset. Skywatchers across Qatar can look toward the western horizon from sunset until around 8:55 PM Doha local time to observe the striking planetary pairing.
A conjunction occurs when two celestial objects appear close to one another in the sky from Earth’s perspective. While Venus and Jupiter remain millions of kilometers apart in space, their alignment creates the illusion of a close encounter for observers on Earth.
