The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has launched the first edition of the School Fees Policy 2026 for private schools and kindergartens in Qatar, introducing new measures aimed at increasing transparency and supporting families.

One of the key provisions of the policy is a requirement that parents receive an 18-month notice period before any approved private school fee increase takes effect. The announcement was made during a press conference introducing the new policy.

Speaking to The Peninsula, Dr. Rania Mohammed, Director of the Private Schools and Kindergarten Department and Acting Director of the Private School Licensing Department at the Ministry, said that the new measure gives parents more time to prepare financially or consider transferring their children to another school if needed.

She explained that the extended notice period also helps students adjust psychologically to any potential school changes, reducing disruption to their education.

Dr. Mohammed added that several factors will be considered when evaluating requests for fee increases, including inflation rates, the school’s financial performance, and its academic performance. According to the Ministry, these criteria are designed to encourage higher educational standards and strengthen competitiveness among private schools across Qatar.

The School Fees Policy 2026 marks the first time such an extended advance notice requirement has been introduced in Qatar’s private education sector, providing families with greater clarity and predictability regarding future school fees.
