The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has announced the issuance of the first official identification card for licensed tutoring teachers in Qatar, as part of its ongoing efforts to regulate the tutoring sector and enhance the quality of educational support services provided to students.
MOEHE explained that the identification card serves as an official document proving that a teacher has obtained the approved tutoring license. It is to be used as a recognized means of identification when delivering tutoring lessons, whether within licensed educational centers or at home. This step contributes to strengthening transparency and promoting organized, systematic practices within the tutoring sector.
The introduction of the identification card aims to achieve several key objectives, including ensuring that students and parents engage only with licensed teachers who meet approved academic and professional standards, enhancing trust in tutoring services, limiting irregular or unregulated tutoring practices, and enabling regulatory authorities to quickly verify the legal status of tutoring teachers.
MOEHE noted that implementing the identification card system is expected to bring a qualitative improvement to the regulation of tutoring activities. This includes reinforcing professional and ethical standards among teachers, restricting tutoring services to approved and licensed frameworks, and reducing complaints related to unqualified or unlicensed tutors.
The ministry confirmed that dealings with tutoring teachers will be limited exclusively to those who hold both an approved license and the official identification card. This step aligns with MOEHE’s continuous efforts to enhance educational quality, protect beneficiaries, and regulate educational support services through clear and enforceable legal frameworks.
In this context, Professor Iman Ali Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Educational Services Centers Department, stated that the issuance of the identification card complements earlier regulatory stages. These included verifying academic qualifications, professional experience, residency status, and employment contracts, as well as conducting personal interviews. A total of 272 teachers were interviewed, with 182 teachers from various specializations granted licenses. A one-month grace period was provided to tutoring centers to rectify the status of remaining teachers to ensure compliance and maintain service quality.
This initiative reflects MOEHE’s commitment to developing the educational support system in Qatar in line with the highest standards of quality and governance. It also supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 by strengthening human capital, building a knowledge-based society, and ensuring high-quality education that meets the expectations of students and parents while contributing to sustainable national development.
