Ministry of Education Highlights the Shared Role of Families and Schools in Promoting Digital Awareness

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is highlighting the importance of cooperation between families and schools in developing children’s digital awareness and helping them navigate the online world safely and responsibly. Through guidance at home and awareness at school, children can develop essential skills to protect themselves online, use technology responsibly and make informed decisions when interacting with digital content.

The Ministry’s awareness message focuses on four key areas where parents and schools play complementary roles:

1. Digital Privacy
At home, parents are encouraged to teach children how to protect their personal data, photographs and private information. At school, students are introduced to the importance of digital privacy and building a culture of protecting personal information.

2. Information Verification
Families can encourage children to ask questions and think critically before believing or sharing information online. Schools reinforce this by teaching students how to verify information and check the reliability of digital sources.

3. Responsible Online Interaction
Parents play an important role in instilling respect for others and encouraging positive communication. Schools complement this guidance by promoting responsible digital behaviour and respectful interactions in online spaces.

4. Maintaining a Healthy Digital Balance
At home, families can help children regulate their screen time and develop healthy technology habits. At school, students are encouraged to use technology constructively as a tool to support learning.

The Ministry emphasises that family and school have two complementary roles in shaping children’s digital behaviour. By working together, parents and educators can help raise a generation of digitally aware students who understand how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.

The message reinforces that protecting children in the digital world is a shared responsibility, with family awareness and school guidance working together to support their online safety.
