The State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain have officially inaugurated their first-ever passenger sea route, connecting Saada Marina in Bahrain with Al Ruwais Port in Qatar. The journey takes only 50 minutes, offering a secure, comfortable, and efficient travel option for citizens, residents, and visitors.
The launch ceremony was attended by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Transport, and HE Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, alongside senior officials from both nations.
The first voyage departed at 9:00 a.m., marking a historic milestone in bilateral transport relations. This service is the first of its kind between Qatar and Bahrain and represents a major step forward in strengthening cooperation in transportation, tourism, and trade.
Ahead of the launch, a Bahraini delegation from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications visited Al Ruwais Port, accompanied by Qatari officials, to review passenger facilities and operational procedures. The preparations ensured the route would be fully ready to provide a smooth and comfortable experience from day one.
The introduction of this passenger sea line is part of a broader initiative to enhance maritime connectivity between the two countries. It is expected to create new opportunities for tourism and trade cooperation while supporting the Gulf region’s vision of a fully integrated maritime transport network.
With this new ferry route, travelers between Qatar and Bahrain can now enjoy a faster, safer, and more convenient journey. The launch reflects the strong ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to advancing regional transport and tourism infrastructure.
