Qatar’s Population Hits 3.2 Million in December 2025, NPC Reports

Qatar’s population reached 3,214,609 by the end of December 2025, reflecting a 2.3% increase compared to December 2024, according to the latest data from the National Planning Council (NPC). This rise highlights the country’s continued appeal as a destination for global talent and investment.

The NPC noted that the population was estimated at 3,142,335 residents a year earlier. While this growth is moderate compared to past demographic shifts, it signals a stabilisation following years of more dramatic changes.

Qatar is projected to remain one of the region’s fastest-growing economies in 2026, with real GDP growth expected at 5.2%, supported by increased LNG output, stronger exports, and sustained investment in non-hydrocarbon sectors, according to Fitch Solutions’ MENA Macro report. Tourism has also rebounded post-World Cup, aided by platforms like Hayya, while free zones in Ras Bufontas and Umm Alhoul continue to attract businesses and workers.

The latest figures underscore Qatar’s demographic evolution and economic vitality, positioning the country for continued growth and global prominence.
