Qatar Museums (QM) has announced an exciting public programme for August 2026, offering a month of indoor workshops, family activities, youth initiatives, cultural events and sports experiences across its museums and creative centres. Designed for visitors of all ages, the programme includes interactive learning, creative expression, photography celebrations and hands-on activities throughout the month.
Among the highlights are the Tasweer Awards celebrating World Photography Day, the Summer Sports Fun Factory at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, family workshops at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), educational games at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and a wide range of Teen Hub activities focused on leadership, creativity and career development.
The National Museum of Qatar will host the Museum Memory Game on 10 and 17 August, where children aged 5 to 16 can explore the museum’s iconic objects through an interactive memory challenge available in both Arabic and English. The activity encourages observation, teamwork and learning through play.
Throughout August, the Museum of Islamic Art will present a diverse programme for families and young visitors. Highlights include Story Time: Following My Paint Brush on 1 August, Family Day: The Life of Plants on 8 August, the Planet Teens Club: Quilts and Recycling Fabric workshop on 18 August, and Planet Kids Club: Kalila wa Dimna on 25 August. The museum will also celebrate International Youth Day on 29 August with a collaborative self-portrait art activity, followed by a screening of Jodhaa Akbar on 30 August as part of the Majlis Film Club, and a Book Club discussion of The Blue Manuscript on 31 August.
Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the 321 Summer Sports Fun Factory from 1 to 29 August at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. The month-long programme features daily coaching sessions, games and sporting challenges in basketball, football, gymnastics, athletics, boxing, hockey, rugby and more. Young visitors can also join the Museum Explorer interactive gallery challenge on 3, 4, 10 and 12 August, where participants search for featured objects and earn an official Museum Explorer stamp.
To mark World Photography Day, Tasweer, in collaboration with Fire Station, will host a month-long celebration of photography that concludes on 19 August with the announcement of the Tasweer 2026 Project Award and Single Image Award winners at the Fire Station Cinema. The event will also be livestreamed through Tasweer’s social media platforms.
Teen Hub will deliver a packed schedule of workshops and youth programmes throughout August. Activities include the Teen Hub Scouts – Qatar Museums leadership programme, the Future Falcons Camp, and My Career, My Future 2026, a five-day job-shadowing initiative organised in partnership with Qatar Career Development Center and several national ministries.
Additional highlights include My Story, My Identity, led by youth advocate Iman Saeed Ali on 6 August, a full programme for International Youth Day on 12 August, the Soul Elegance community event on 15 August, Fundamentals of Watercolour Painting on 18 and 19 August, and the Family Weekend celebration from 20 to 22 August, showcasing the cultures of Qatar, Canada and Mexico as part of the Years of Culture initiative.
The programme concludes with the Lumen Printing Workshop on 25 and 26 August, where participants will learn the fundamentals of photographic printmaking under the guidance of expert printmaker Paribesh Sitoula.
With activities spanning museums, cultural centres and sporting venues, Qatar Museums’ August programme offers families, children, teenagers and adults numerous opportunities to learn, create, stay active and celebrate culture throughout the summer.
