Qatar Airways Arranges Special Return Flights for Stranded Travellers on 8 March

Qatar Airways announced that its scheduled flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the continued closure of Qatari airspace. The airline stated that normal operations will resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms the safe and full reopening of the country’s airspace. A further operational update is expected on 09 March.

Following temporary authorisation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirming a limited operating corridor, Qatar Airways plans to operate a small number of flights arriving at Hamad International Airport on 09 March.

The planned inbound flights include routes from Amsterdam (AMS), Berlin (BER), Frankfurt (FRA), London (LHR), Zurich (ZRH), and Muscat (MCT).

These flights are intended only for passengers whose final destination is Doha. Bookings can be made through the Qatar Airways website, the airline’s mobile app, or through travel agents.

Qatar Airways clarified that these limited flights do not indicate the full resumption of scheduled commercial operations.

Passengers are advised not to travel to their departure airport unless they hold a valid confirmed ticket.

In addition, Qatar Airways operated repatriation flights on 08 March departing from Hamad International Airport to Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, and Zurich.

Priority on these flights was given to stranded passengers traveling with families, elderly travelers, and individuals with urgent medical or compassionate travel needs. The airline confirmed that these flights were pre-allocated directly to affected passengers.

Qatar Airways emphasised that the safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew remain its highest priority during the current disruption and apologised for the inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond its control.
