Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum is a creative space that celebrates art, imagination, and storytelling through the life and work of legendary artist Maqbool Fida Husain. Designed for discovery and reflection, the museum offers an immersive experience that sparks curiosity across all ages. The Museum

A museum that sparks imagination as much as it invites discovery Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum, established by Qatar Foundation, celebrates the life and work of Maqbool Fida Husain. Spanning over 3,000 square meters, the museum was born from a sketch by Husain himself and realized by architect Martand Khosla. Its galleries feature the artist’s final works created in Qatar, including the Arab Civilization series, and culminate with his last and most ambitious masterpiece, Seeroo fi al ardh. Personal objects and diverse works across genres and media offer deeper insights into his creative journey.

Must-See Highlight (Seero fi al Ardh )

Don’t miss Seero fi al Ardh (“Journey on Earth”), Husain’s ambitious multimedia finale depicting humanity’s progress through horses, Abbas ibn Firnas sculptures, Leonardo da Vinci’s flying machine, and vintage cars – a promise fulfilled by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.One of M. F. Husain’s most ambitious and visionary works, Seeroo fi al ardh (which means “Travel Through the Earth”) is the artist’s grand celebration of human creativity, progress, and imagination. Conceived as a multimedia installation, it blends art, science, movement, and sound to tell the story of humankind’s journey of innovation, from early civilizations to modern achievements. The work captures Husain’s fascination with how art and technology reflect humanity’s constant search for meaning and advancement. Through symbolic imagery, vibrant motion, and intricate mechanical design, Seeroo fi al ardh stands as a tribute to the spirit of discovery and the enduring connection between culture, knowledge, and creativity.

The Artist : M.F. Hussain

Maqbool Fida Husain (1913–2011), fondly known as M. F. Husain, was a visionary artist whose boundless creativity reshaped modern art. From his early days painting cinema billboards in India to becoming one of the most influential contemporary artists in the world, Husain’s unconventional and prolific journey included painting, sculpture, film, poetry, and design. His unconfined style and visual language drew from history, culture, and everyday life, speaking to audiences across generations. His works ranged from radiant portraits to monumental canvases, each infused with fierce force, rhythmic movement, and a deep engagement with the human experience and spirit of adventure.
