Katara Mural 'Rawda, in the Embrace of the South'

General Manager of Katara Cultural Village, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, inaugurated a new mural entitled “Rawda, in the Embrace of the South” on the facade of Building 46 at Katara.

The event was attended by HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the State of Qatar, Alvaro Renedo Zalba, and a number of Their Excellencies the ambassadors accredited to the nation, alongside interested audiences and media practitioners.

The move underscores Katara’s cultural mission to promote civilizational dialogue and project the aspects of aesthetic intersection of cultures within a space that combines authenticity and openness.

Ambassador Zalba expressed his profound pride in opening this superb artistic work at Katara, emphasizing that it represents a vibrant cultural project in the spirit of Andalusia as a historic space for co-existence, dialogue, and civilizational cross-fertilization.

He pointed out that this work simultaneously projects the depth of forged humanitarian and cultural bonds between Spain and the Arab world.

This mural isn’t merely an art piece, but a beautiful window that broadens new horizons for mutual understanding and manifests the shared values between the Spanish and Qatari cultures, HE Zalba underlined.

Zalba further hailed the leading role Katara undertakes in protecting the shared human heritage, fostering cultural diplomacy, and creating innovative spaces that help deepen people-to-people cultural dialogue, thereby forging bridges of collaboration and cultural exchange between Spain and Qatar.

For his part, Spanish figurative painter Carlos Alvarez Las Heras said his artwork showcases a perfect vision of the traditional Andalusian space, combining enduring elements of Spanish culture with Qatari ones.

This artwork is a window that goes beyond the boundaries of time and place to connect Qatar with Spain, creating a warm and attractive space that encourages visitors to interact with the two nations’ rich cultural heritages and celebrate them.

This inauguration is part of a series of cultural and artistic initiatives Katara undertakes to consolidate its standing as a global hub for cultural dialogue, combining heritage and art with human creativity.
