Lawh Wa Qalam Museum, celebrates the life, ideas and artistic journey of renowned Indian artist Maqbool Fida Husain. Spanning more than 3,000 square metres, the museum itself has an interesting beginning – its design was inspired by a sketch made by Husain and brought to life by architect Martand Khosla. Inside, visitors can explore some of Husain’s final works created in Qatar, including his Arab Civilization series, personal objects and artworks created across different genres and media, offering a closer look at the ideas and experiences that shaped his distinctive artistic style. One of the highlights is Seeroo fi al ardh (Travel Through the Earth), Husain’s final and most ambitious masterpiece. Conceived as a tribute to human ingenuity, the monumental work explores humanity’s pursuit of progress and brings together art, science and technology as different expressions of imagination. The museum goes beyond traditional galleries through multimedia installations, archival materials and immersive displays, creating an engaging experience around Husain’s creativity and vision. It also offers learning and outreach programmes for different age groups, bringing together art, culture and knowledge in the heart of Education City.
