February Marks the Final Month of Winter and the Second Coldest of the Year

February is identified as the last month of winter and climatically the second coldest month of the year after January, according to climate information issued by the Qatar Meteorology Department.

Climate records show that the lowest temperature recorded in February reached 5.0°C in 1967, highlighting the month’s cooler winter conditions.

February is also characterized by unstable weather patterns, particularly at the leading edge of frontal systems. These conditions often result in thunderstorm activity, which occurs mostly during nighttime hours.

Rainfall data indicates that February is the wettest month of winter, with an average rainfall of 13.9 mm recorded between 1962 and 2020. In addition, the northwesterly wind is identified as the prevailing wind during the month.

The climate information reflects the seasonal weather characteristics documented by the Qatar Meteorology Department.
