Ultraleggera: A Design Journey with Marcello Gandini
Event Discretion
Ultraleggera is a major exhibition co-produced by Qatar Auto Museum (QAM), Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile (MAUTO) in Turin, and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar).
Recognized as the inventor of the supercar, Marcello Gandini revolutionized the automotive world with designs such as the Lamborghini Miura, Countach, Diablo, and Lancia Stratos. This exhibition explores Gandini’s groundbreaking legacy and visionary lightweight engineering philosophy.
Curated by VCUarts Qatar’s Simone Carena, Marzia Gandini, and Gautam Sen, the exhibition features sketches, prototypes, archival materials, and original models. It also includes cutting-edge 3D-printed installations by VCUarts Qatar students from the 2024 Moving Interiors with Marcello Gandini Masterclass, celebrating Gandini’s enduring impact on design.
This cross-cultural exhibition embodies innovation and design excellence, highlighting the creative synergy between Qatar and Italy. It marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between QAM and MAUTO. Following its Doha run, the exhibition will travel to MAUTO in June 2025.
