Apple has announced a new feature in the Messages app with iOS 26, which will help users avoid falling victim to spam and fraudulent messages.
The company explained that users can activate the new feature in iOS 26 by tapping on the blue button in the top-right corner of the Messages app, then tapping on “Manage Filters” to open a new menu. When this menu opens, it’s best to enable “Screen Unknown Senders” and “Filter Spam.
“Activating the “Block Unknown Senders” option will hide notifications of messages from unknown senders and move them to the “Unknown Senders” list.
The “Filter Spam” option will hide notifications of messages considered spam and move them to the “Spam” list.
Although users won’t see notifications about messages from unknown senders or messages considered spam on their main conversations page, these messages can be accessed individually from the “Unknown Senders” and “Spam” lists.
The company indicated that most iOS 26 users will receive this feature in September, but those who installed the iOS 26 developer beta has this feature now
