The Al Wasm season begins on October 16, marking a period traditionally associated with milder weather, increased chances of rainfall and the growth of vegetation across the Arabian Peninsula.
Lasting 52 days, Al Wasm is considered one of the most favourable seasons for the region’s inhabitants. Temperatures typically become more moderate during the day, while nights turn cooler, offering a change from the summer heat.
The season is also known for the arrival of migratory birds and the beginning of the growth of truffles, locally known as Al Faq’a. These seasonal changes are closely associated with the land becoming greener as vegetation begins to grow.
The name Al Wasm refers to the way the season leaves its mark on the land through greenery and plant growth. It is traditionally linked to the possibility of rainfall, which supports the growth of vegetation across the region.
As Al Wasm begins, the coming weeks mark a seasonal transition across Qatar and the wider Arabian Peninsula, bringing cooler nights and the natural changes associated with the autumn season.
