The Qatar Calendar House has launched the Gulf Calendar app, a new digital platform offering calendar and astronomical services for users across the GCC. The launch took place in Doha on September 21, 2026, during a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of Qatar Calendar House, which was established in 1951.

The new app brings together a range of calendar, religious and astronomical information in one digital platform. It covers 50 cities across the Gulf region and provides users with daily Hijri and Gregorian dates, prayer times, astronomical information, star seasons, Ramadan schedules, Qibla direction and a perpetual calendar.

According to Qatar Calendar House, the launch represents the latest stage in the calendar’s development, which began with handwritten copies in 1951 before progressing to printed calendars and later digital services. The electronic Qatari Calendar app has previously served more than 160,000 users.

The Gulf Calendar app was presented during the anniversary ceremony by Qatar Calendar House Executive Director Eng. Faisal Al Ansari, who highlighted features including Hijri and Gregorian dates, prayer times, astronomical data and regional seasonal events.

The 75th-anniversary celebration also highlighted the legacy of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Ansari and his contributions to education, culture, religious studies and publishing in Qatar. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of replica copies of the original 1951 Qatari Calendar and a documentary about his life.

The Gulf Calendar app extends Qatar Calendar House’s long-running work into a digital platform designed to make calendar, religious and astronomical information accessible to users across the GCC.
