The 2027 Formula 1® calendar has been officially confirmed, with the Formula 1® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix returning to Lusail International Circuit from December 3 to 5, 2027.
The Qatar Grand Prix will be the 23rd round of the 2027 Formula 1® season, making it the penultimate race on a 24-race calendar. The 2027 season will also feature the return of the Turkish and Portuguese Grand Prix after several years away.
Lusail International Circuit has hosted Formula 1® since Qatar joined the championship calendar in 2021. The circuit is now among a select group of venues to have hosted Formula 1®, MotoGP™ and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The 5.38-kilometre circuit features 16 turns and multiple overtaking opportunities, providing a fast racing environment. Its world-class lighting system also allows the Qatar Grand Prix to take place under the lights, creating a distinctive setting for the race weekend.
Sprint Weekend Confirmed for 2027
Lusail International Circuit will once again host a Sprint weekend in 2027. It will be one of only 10 Sprint rounds included in the 2027 Formula 1® calendar.
The Sprint is a shorter race held on Saturday during a Grand Prix weekend. Covering approximately 100 kilometres, it has its own points-scoring system and podium ceremony before the main Grand Prix takes place on Sunday.
With the Qatar Grand Prix positioned as the penultimate round of the season, the weekend will form part of the closing stages of the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship battles.
The 2027 race weekend is also expected to welcome fans from around the world for a combination of Formula 1® racing, entertainment and hospitality at Lusail International Circuit.
