National Museum of Qatar Launches ExxonMobil STEAM Festival

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), in collaboration with ExxonMobil Qatar, has launched the ExxonMobil STEAM Festival, offering children, families and young adults opportunities to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through Qatar’s heritage, environment and history.

The festival is running from 27 August to 28 November 2026 at the National Museum of Qatar’s Temporary Exhibitions Gallery 2, with activities also taking place across other museum spaces.

The initiative combines hands-on experimentation, interactive workshops and science-based activities, connecting modern learning and discovery with Qatar’s cultural heritage.

A key part of the festival is The STEAM Lab, which features zones designed for different age groups. Activities include the DADU Light Atelier for young children, the ExxonMobil Research Qatar x DADU – Mangroves Lab, which focuses on marine biology, and the NMoQ Roots of Routes zone, where visitors can build traditional tools such as the kamal, a traditional celestial navigation device, as well as dhow boats.

The festival will also extend to the museum’s Digital and AI Centre and Library. Programmes include Evolution of Navigation workshops, a Teen Tech Takeover focused on creating augmented reality filters, a Silk Road board game, and storytelling sessions introducing younger visitors to navigation and traditional boats.

For young adults aged 16 and above, the festival will also feature Café Scientifique: Careers in STEAM, connecting participants with industry experts to explore professional pathways across multidisciplinary fields.

According to Qatar Museums and ExxonMobil Qatar, the festival aims to encourage learning through exploration while connecting STEAM education with Qatar’s identity, natural heritage and maritime traditions.

The ExxonMobil STEAM Festival will continue at the National Museum of Qatar until 28 November 2026.
