Katara Art Center will launch its new season with two art exhibitions opening on September 2 and continuing until October 7 at the headquarters of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara).

The new season will feature the group exhibition “Fractures of the Future,” bringing together artists Samah Azzam, Ahmed Al Jufairi, Moza Al Kuwari and Fatima Mohammed. The exhibition explores the artists’ reflections on the possibilities of the future and their responses to current challenges, presenting different perspectives on how the future can be reimagined.

The participating artists use a range of approaches, including science fiction, systems thinking, oral history and material experimentation. Their works look beyond simply anticipating the future, instead examining the present through responses to social, economic and environmental issues, including the climate crisis and land exploitation. Through their work, the artists imagine alternative futures and explore the possibility of radical change.

The second exhibition, “The Lounge: What Can a Room Remember?”, is the first exhibition by visual artist Hessa Al Kuwari. It explores the importance of the living room in everyday life through painting, photography and installation.

The exhibition examines familiar elements found within these spaces, including patterns, objects, furniture, clothing and everyday rituals. While these details may initially appear ordinary, the exhibition transforms them into subjects for contemplation and observation.

Both exhibitions will be on display at Katara Art Center from September 2 to October 7.
