The Ministry of Labour has announced the enforcement of Ministerial Decision No. 17 of 2021 on heat stress prevention as part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to ensure a safe working environment and protect workers during the summer months.
Under the decision, work in open outdoor areas is prohibited daily between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from 1 June to 15 September. The measure aims to reduce the risks associated with heat stress and high temperatures during the summer season.
The Ministry emphasized that the implementation of the decision reflects Qatar’s commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of workers and promoting occupational safety standards across various sectors. Employers are required to comply with the specified working hours restrictions and take the necessary precautions to protect employees from heat-related illnesses.
The annual summer work ban is a key component of Qatar’s labour protection framework, helping to ensure safer working conditions during periods of extreme heat.
