The Cultural Village Foundation “Katara” inaugurated Tuesday the exhibition “Mada, From Letter to Colour,” showcasing a collection of creative works by students from the Fine Arts Programme at the College of Arts and Sciences, Qatar University.

The exhibition serves as a platform to highlight the artistic talents of the students, exploring their abilities in visual expression and color innovation. It marks a significant moment where the elegance of Arabic calligraphy meets the freedom of color, reflected in the students’ artworks.

Offering a comprehensive view of artistic evolution, the exhibition traces the journey from traditional calligraphy to experimentation with colors and visual compositions. Each painting tells a unique story, revealing the identity and skills of its creator.

Running until August 28, the exhibition aims to engage the public with art and deepen their understanding of its cultural and aesthetic dimensions.

Head of the Department of Humanities at Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Mahdi Jerad stated to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the exhibition, featuring 39 artworks, marks the debut of the Fine Arts Programme’s output, as it highlights visual creativity and the beauty of Arabic calligraphy inspired by Arab-Islamic heritage, alongside pieces drawn from Qatari environments and miniature art.

He added that the exhibition offers visitors a diverse range of experimental and traditional works, blending Arabic calligraphy with modern visual arts.

This enriches visual culture and showcases innovation in artistic expression, contributing to the local art scene and emphasizing the role of educational institutions in supporting art and creativity.

He added that it also opens new horizons for students to develop their skills and gain practical experience in contemporary art.
