Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar, has introduced the “Museum in Residence: Light Atelier” programme at Al Faqih Al Ghazi School in Rabat, Morocco. This initiative is part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture and offers young learners an innovative educational experience focused on the theme of light.
The Light Atelier transforms traditional classrooms into sensory-rich learning environments for children aged 3 to 7. Through the use of reflective surfaces, translucent materials, and shadow play, children engage in hands-on activities that explore light from scientific, artistic, and cultural perspectives. This approach fosters creativity, personal development, and critical thinking skills through interactive and playful learning.
HE Dr. Mohamed Al Sada, President of Dadu, emphasized that the programme reflects the enduring friendship between Qatar and Morocco and reinforces their shared commitment to nurturing curiosity and cultural exchange among children.
To ensure the sustainability of the initiative, Dadu has also provided training and mentorship to teachers from the Academy of the Riad-Sale-Kenitra region. This effort aligns with Morocco’s 2022–2026 education roadmap, which aims to double extracurricular activities and engage 37,000 students in the coming years.
Officials from Morocco’s Ministry of Education praised the programme’s alignment with national educational goals, noting its value in promoting student engagement through play-based learning.
David Taylor, Deputy Director of Project & Operations at Dadu, shared that the programme not only inspires a love for learning but also strengthens cultural connections between Qatar and Morocco.
The launch of the Light Atelier in Rabat highlights the lasting legacy of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture and contributes to fostering cross-cultural understanding. Since 2012, Qatar’s Years of Culture have supported global cultural dialogue through education, art, and shared heritage, with the Light Atelier marking a significant step in that journey.
