Microsoft has expanded its Surface family with the release of the Surface Laptop 13-inch and Surface Pro 12-inch tablet, both powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus processors.
The devices feature PixelSense displays and offer an enhanced Windows 11 experience. Key highlights include AI-driven actions in File Explorer, improved Notepad functionality, and better integration with Microsoft Copilot.
Both products are equipped with 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. Although the Surface Pro features a smaller display, it delivers a superior experience in other areas. It boasts a 2196×1464 resolution with a 90 Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the 13-inch Surface Laptop comes with a 1920×1280 resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate, both featuring touchscreen displays.
A notable distinction is that the Surface Pro supports Windows Hello via the camera, while the Surface Laptop uses a fingerprint scanner for identification. Additionally, the tablet includes a 10-megapixel rear camera.
Microsoft describes the new Surface Laptop as “the thinnest and lightest Surface Laptop ever.” Crafted with an anodized aluminum case, it is more compact than existing models, which typically come with 13.8-inch and 15-inch screens.
Another change is the removal of the proprietary Surface Connect port, with charging now handled via USB-C. The new Surface Laptop includes two USB-C 3.2 ports, one USB-A 3.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
